Getting Started

What is required of me to sign up?

[top]

How do I know what to charge?

You can set any price you like. You decide how much you want to charge per week. The less you charge, the more likely you are to sell advertising space. Generally, $10-$200 per week is the going rate depending on how many unique visitors your site has and how many of them click ads.
[top]

What kind of statistics do you offer?

All of your customers will be able to view real-time statistics, and you will be able to view stats on all of your customers' ads. We break it down by day and number of clicks. As we charge a flat rate by the week, the number of clicks generated is the important number that advertisers care about.
[top]

Can I set guidelines for who can advertise on my site?

Absolutely. Once you log in, you can specify your requirements and restrictions in for your site by selecting the "Edit Site Info" link under the "Sell Ads" tab. On this page, you can choose which categories to ban by checking each of the boxes. These restrictions will appear on the page a customer visits when he/she goes to buy a sponsored link on your site.
[top]

Do I get to approve (or deny) the ads on my site?

Although ads start showing instantly by default, you will be sent an email each time an ad is purchased with links to either approve or deny the advertisement

What do you do with unsold space?

If there is a situation where you have "unsold space", meaning there aren't enough paid advertisements to fill your ad box, Targeted CPC (RON) ads will appear.
[top]

How do I get started?

It's easy, just fill out a form and follow the on-screen instructions. You can be up and running in a matter of minutes and it costs you nothing!

Targeted Cost Per Click (RON) Ads

What are Targeted CPC (RON) ads?

Targeted CPC (RON) ads are run of network ads that are served only to online visitors within a specific geographic region and/or site category.
[top]

How does it work?

Targeted CPC (RON) ads only circulate to the region(s) and categories specified by the advertiser. For example, if the advertiser limits the Targeted CPC (RON) ad to only “Business and Finance” sites in the Norway, U.S. and Canada, the ad will only be seen by visitors from those regions on sites within that category.
[top]

Do I need to change the code on my site?

No. There are no changes you need to make.
[top]

Ad Rotation

What are Ad Rotations?

Ad Rotations allow publishers to select a number of ads (up to 40) to place in an Ad Pool. Every few minutes, an ad from the Ad Pool is randomly selected and displayed on your site. Ad Rotations enable publishers to host multiple ads at a single period of time.
[top]

How often are ads rotated in my ad box?

Ads are rotated on every page impression.
[top]

How many ads are allowed in an Ad Pool?

AdEngage allows a maximum of 40 ads in a single Ad Pool.
[top]

What is an Ad Pool?

An Ad Pool is the collection of ads selected by a publisher for a given period of time. Ads are randomly displayed from the Ad Pool and rotated on every impression. An Ad Pool may contain up to 40 ads at a time.

Sales and Earnings

What is the difference between sales and earnings reports?

The Sales report shows ad sales based on the date the ad was purchased. This helps you see exactly when an ad was bought, even if it is scheduled to be displayed on a later date.

The Earnings report shows earnings based on when the ad was displayed on your site. The Earnings report reflects how much money you have made on a certain day.

Can you give me an example?

If someone purchases a 3-week ad on January 1st, and the cost of the ad $70 per week, the Sales report will reflect a $210 sale on January 1st.

The Earnings report will show how much you've made for each day the ad has been displayed on your site. So, if you are running an Earnings report for January 1 through January 7, you will see that you have earned $10 for each day that the ad has been displayed on your site ($70 per week divided by 7 days in a week) for a total of $70 in earnings for that week. The earnings for the second and third weeks in January will be reflected on the Earnings report in a similar manner.
[top]

Why is this feature important?

This feature not only helps our publishers track when sales are made, and how their earnings are divided over time, but also helps ensure that our advertisers only pay for days his or her ad is actually shown.
[top]

What are projected future earnings?

Projected Future Earnings are the earnings that a publisher will receive from displaying Weekly Ads that have been sold but not yet displayed. Projected Future Earnings are the sum of the value of the Weekly Ads sold but not yet displayed. Projected Future Earnings do not include the value of the any Targeted CPC (RON) ads that may be displayed in the future.
[top]

How can I determine what I will be paid in my next payment?

To determine what you will be paid for last month run the Earnings Report and select "Last Month". The total is at the top of the page and this is the amount that will be paid on or around the 15th of the month.

When will this payment change take effect?

The change in payment method takes effect on March 1, 2008. This will not affect February 2008 earnings that are paid on March 15, 2008. The first payment that will be impacted will occur on April 15, 2008.

How do I estimate how much I will earn this month?

To estimate how much you will earn in the present month run the Earnings Report and select "Month to Date". The report will show the earnings to date at the top of the page and at the bottom a summary of the weekly ads sold but not yet displayed by month.

The report does not estimate the Targeted CPC (RON) earnings for the rest of the month, but by looking at the historic data a forecast can be made.

An estimate of the month's earnings can be made by adding the "earnings to date", the estimate of weekly ad earnings for the "rest of the current month" and an estimate of the Targeted CPC (RON) for the rest of the month.

Ad Ratings

How do I rate my site?

When submitting a new site, publishers are asked to select one of three options: Everyone, Teen and Adult.

How do I decide the rating for my website?

The definitions we have created are similar to those used by the video game industry and are as follows:

Everyone

Website content may be suitable for persons ages 6 and older. May contain minimal violence and some comic mischief or crude language.

Teen

Website content may be suitable for persons ages 13 and older. No nudity or explicit sexual content. May contain violent content, mild or strong language, and/or suggestive themes.

Adult

Website content suitable only for adults. May include graphic depictions of nudity, sex and/or violence. Not intended for persons under the age of 18.

[top]

How does my site’s rating affect ads on my site?

For sites rated "Everyone," publishers can only accept ads rated either Everyone and Teen ads, for sites rated “Teen” publishers can accept ads rated Everyone, Teen and Adult and Adult rated sites can only accept “Adult” rated ads.
[top]

How are ads rated?

Ads are rated by three ratings: “Everyone”, “Teen”, and “Adult”. “Everyone” ads are appropriate for all ages including children, “Teen” ads are appropriate for persons 13 and over, and “Adult” ads are only appropriate for adults 18 and over.
[top]

Can I exclude certain types of ads regardless of the ad’s rating?

Yes, publishers have full control over the types of ads displayed on their sites. The publisher can exclude certain types of ads by checking the box for each category. For instance, if a publisher does not wish to include ads promoting gambling, pharmaceuticals, or sexual health, the publisher can simply click on the box for each category and exclude them from the site. Publishers can edit preferences at any time by logging in, selecting the "My Account" tab, scrolling to the "Publisher" box, and clicking the "Edit My Sites" link.
[top]

Can I change my site’s rating if or when the content of my site changes?

Yes, publishers can change the rating of their sites at any given time. However, all site rating changes must be reviewed and approved by Reklameplass before going live.
[top]

Site Directory

Why does my website not appear in the directory?

Every website that is submitted to Reklameplass is reviewed by the company and is only included in the directory if it passes certain quality criteria. We normally review every site within 48 hours of receiving the application and always contact the publisher with the result of our review process.
[top]

If my site is down will it still be shown in the Site Directory?

No, it will not show in the Site Directory. The only sites that appear in the Site Directory are those that are showing Reklameplass ads.
[top]

How does Reklameplass order the sites in the directory?

By default, we rank the sites by the number of clicks that an average ad has received on that site. However, it is very easy to reorder the Site Directory.
[top]

How do I reorder the Site Directory?

By clicking on the links titled "Cost/Week," "Avg. Clicks/Week/Ad," "Repurchase Rate," "Avg. CPC," or "Alexa Ranking" at the top of the column, the Site Directory is ordered by that particular metric.
[top]

What factors are given stars?

AdEngage awards stars for four criteria. The four criteria are (1) Average Clicks per Week per Ad,(2) Repurchase Rate, (3) Average Cost per Click (CPC) and (4) the Alexa Rank.
[top]

How does Reklameplass decide how many stars to award a site?

In general, we award the top few percent of sites with five stars; more sites have four stars and so on. A site is awarded no stars if it fails to meet certain basic criteria, e.g. if the site does not have an Alexa Rank.
[top]
